Expected to come soon as a sign of a new digital er
a, internet 3.0 has been widely discussed when the metaverse began to become hype among the public and investors.
Web3 Using Blockchain?
Web3 itself is still considered as the next phase of the internet, which is seen to be more focused on decentralization and better user privacy.
The presence of the metaverse has also made observers highly assume that internet 3.0 will be presented using blockchain technology and in a more real concept, aka 3-dimensional (3D).
However, the founder of Twitter and Square, Jack Dorsey, is not very fond of the web3 concept, saying that it could be a tool for venture capitalists to capitalize on the hype in the crypto industry.
The same thing was also expressed by Elon Musk, that he still sees web3 as nonsense. Only built for business purposes only without a presentation that is clearly profitable for users.
However, with the presence of NFT, crypto and blockchain in the metaverse, this is certainly an interesting sign if indeed web3 will really be built based on the virtual world in the first place.
Will Be Different
Of course, this is said to be a different metaverse than before, as blockchain and NFT technologies will allow one to actually own digital assets in them.
Again, Jack Dorsey doesn't agree with the concept of decentralization if you look at the metaverse efforts currently being developed, which are more towards becoming a centralized virtual world.
Will web3 run well? If you stick to the movement of crypto assets, it's possible.
However, because web3 is more broad and global, the participation of the developers in it will be decisive.
Will it eventually work well and decentralize? Or is it just the same as web2, but with a different face? Lets watch.
