Reporting from Fox Business, right on Tuesday (11/2/2021) in a Twitter tweet, Francis Suarez as the Mayor of Miami is known to be a pioneer by receiving all subsequent salaries in Bitcoin.
The Mayor of Miami's Twitter tweet is known to have been the result of a tweet from a crypto fan and investor, Anthony Pompliano, who asked who was the first US politician to receive their salary in Bitcoin.
Seeing the tweet, Francis Suarez, who is known to have only received a term in office in the second round this week, immediately responded to the tweet.
The mayor of Miami, who is known to have a salary of US$97,000, also added that the steps he took were a manifestation of his commitment to building Miami as a digital innovation center.
However, in another statement, Suarez stated that there was no compulsion about obtaining a salary in the form of Bitcoin to employees in the city of Miami or you could say it was optional.
Furthermore, Suarez's persistence in realizing Miami as a digital innovation city can also be seen from his activation in the creation of MiamiCoin which he started raising since last month.
Suarez hopes that through MiamiCoin, which is a crypto project, it will reduce the need for residents to pay by participating in mining and betting coins.
